Birri is a word meaning river.
Rivers provide connection to spirit, culture, the land and to people.
They are vital to creation.
At Birri Beginnings, we come together to connect and to dream.
To learn what we need in order to create.

Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI)

MCRI’s rheumatic heart disease (RHD) Stem Cell program is helping us better understand and treat this life-threatening condition, particularly for children in First Nations communities, who are disproportionately affected. Central to the program is partnership with community to ensure that the research is conducted in a manner that provides cultural safety to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

Ramaciotti Futures Internship program

Together with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Menzies School at Research Health, Birri is sponsoring the Ramaciotti Futures Internship program, supporting a young First Nations person to gain hands-on laboratory experience, building capacity and strengthening pathways into research for communities.
